TUESDAY, July 20 (HealthDay News) -- A new study finds that the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine protects not only against the sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer, but also helps prevent genital warts and low-grade cervical growths.

If a guy had genital warts from a previous relationship but they went away by having medicine but the virus was still in his body (as the doc says), then is it ok to kiss him on the lips or snog him? The guy wont pass it on to his woman via saliva will he?
Understand that genital warts are found on the genitals or/and surrounding areas. If he had a sore/wart/bump on his lip that is CURRENTLY present, and infected with the virus, then yes it can be transmitted. Warts are not transmitted through saliva, but it must be by physical contact. If you snog, which I assume you mean to cuddle; with him clothed, you will not contract the virus.

Abnormal cells on your cervix does not mean that it's HPV. It could simply be hormonal changes going on. Your doctor should perform a biopsy on you to be certain of what these cells are. Also, HPV is a virus that can only be detected when live cells are present. This means, if you do not have a bump/wart that is infected with the virus for them to test, your results will always be negative. There is a test you can do on yourself, which is to apply warm white vinegar to your genital area on a cloth. Allow 15 mins to pass. If the virus is present, you will see califlower like bumps/warts appear. If they don't this doesn't mean that you don't have the virus. It means that is isn't present in that area. The only way for it to be detected on your cervix is by doing the biopsy. In reference to sex, you should always use condoms! And if you do the test, and you don't have any warts/bumps appear, than it is most likely that the virus is not present in that area. If this is the case, you should be okay to have sex with your partner with a condom. A vagina condom is best.. (i.e. female condom) Also be advised, that 70 percent of the sexually active community has some form of HPV because there are over a 100 different strings of the virus. A lot of times, the virus will resolve it's self. It is the high-risk strings that cause the cell changes. It is important to eat HEALTHY...
